We sit down and binged watched a few Asian films after seeing the movie Parasite and this Chinese epic piece showed up on my radar for suggestions on Netflix. A secret plot with an ongoing war between two kingdoms comes to a head when one empire decide to use deception to gain power of the other with a hidden secret within their own camp.
Parasite (Korean)
This Korean drama was awarded and praised at the Cannes film festival by the great Korean director Bong Joon Ho. This was something I knew I wanted to see but wasn't sure if Alicia would be able to keep up with subtitles. This film turned out to be an amazing lesson in the differences of class, privilege and suspense. This movie was laid out so well that you never knew would would be next. An extraordinary piece of art.
The Current War
This amazing documentary-drama tased on true stories and inventions by Edison, Westinghouse and Tesla. A great look at a time where ingenuity, innovated designs and advancement in tech was a war to the finish. Very educational and important to how we live today.
Joker
An intense psychological look at how a killer comes to be. This comic book Legend comes to life on screen based on a concept that most people waited for years to find out the Origin story of Batmans major nemesis. Alicia and I share our views
Mindhunter season 2 (Netflix)
I get to review a series that after seeing the first season, I really wanted to learn a lot more about the BSU that we followed during the Criminal minds TV series, This is based on an FBI agent that was part of the creation of this unit. We go into the second season that centers on the two major serial killers the BTK killer and the Atlanta child murders. An intense and dark series but well worth the watch
Unbelievable (Netflix)
When a teen reports being raped, then recants her story, two female detectives follow evidence that could reveal the truth; based on a true story
It Chapter 2 (Steven King)
We go see the second chapter of IT. The classic Stephen King novel plays out very well as the loser club is now all grown up. They return back to their town to battle the dreaded Pennywise that terrorized the town many years ago. What a good sequel
Ad Astra
This was one of those movies that Alicia and I struggle to figure out if this is a good movie to see or just something to write off as a year Brad Pitt did a few movies. A space drama that plays as sci-fi, relationship and self discovery.
Fast & Furious presents Hobbs and Shaw
Since Alicia is a big fan of the fast and Furious series. I begrudgingly dragged myself to see this smash and race movie. The best thing about this movie going into it was not having Vin Diesel in the film. So we prepared ourself for better or for worst.
Once upon a time....In Hollywood
We head out to see the 9th movie by Quentin Tarantino with mega stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. I was real excited to see this movie because of the great writing and directing of Tarantino. we discuss our views and this 2 hour and 41 minute release.
