Since it’s summer there are a few comedies that are being released that usually standout for the year. This one we thought would be one of them so went went out to see this new buddy film (cop/ civilian) trying to catch some bad guys in California. When a Uber driver Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) picks up a angry half blind detective (Dave Bautista). Stu becomes the eyes of the detective to find a notorious gang leader that killed his partner.
Jessica Jones Season 3 (Netflix) Final Season
Sadly we sit down and watch the last season of Jessica Jones on Netflix the amazing female super hero played to perfection by Krysten Ritter. This last season Jessica continues to try to get her life together while trying to do good in the hood. But when a brilliant Psychopath puts his sights on her and uses her friends and associates to show her how unworthy she is to have super powers. This cat and mouse games goes on while she partners with another powered being that helps him and her find their place in New York.
I also speak to the cancellation of the other Netflix Marvel characters That may not be seen again.
The Lion King (2019)
We go to the cinema to see the Live Action Lion King with a litany of stars doing the voices. Based on the 1994 animated movie. This is the new thing that Disney is doing with their animated movies. Redoing them into live action movies. We give our opinion of what are thoughts was as adults looking at a children's movie.
Stranger Things Season 3 (Netflix)
Once again a good day for binge watching got us to watch the entire 3rd season of Stranger things. Now, I read a few mixed reviews about this season, but for the most part I think most people had the same enthusiasm for a new season and what it would bring regardless.
Chernobyl (HBO)
We sit down and watch the mini series depicting the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Russia. The gritty and powerful depiction of the events during that time was interesting and captivating. The previews made me put this on the list of something Alicia and I had to watch
When They See Us - Neflix
The Netflix series by Ava Duvenay about the tragedy inflicted on young teenagers named the Central Park Five. This reenacted series about five young boys wrongly convicted of raping a white woman in Central Park back in 1989. A 5 part series that spans the years they were convicted to 14+ years being exonerated of the crime. Its a brutal view of the people of the justice system and the racist system that still exist today. A very emotional series that is a must see for people who respects justice.
Spiderman - Far from home
We get to see the last Marvel movie of the year. With End game still leaving us sad, we get a light hearted view of Spiderman. A young boy trying to make adult decisions in an unstable world. We actually didn’t expect much from this one. But was pleasantly surprised.
Anna - 2019
Not our regular movie to go see but when I heard this was a Luc Besson action film. I was going to at least check it out. This action thriller of a Russian model /assassin tries to get her life back by doing jobs that would get her out of the KGB but keeps caught up with the CIA and her KGB handlers.
The Twilight Zone 2019 (Jordan Peele)
We sit down and binge watch the new Twilight zone narrated by Peele. His unique view of twisted reality and fantasy on a different level made us want to watch these episodes and see how he painted anew picture of stores originated by the late great Rod Serling
X-MEN: Dark Phoenix
Sooooo, Alicia and I go to the last of the Marvel series for Fox. The last of the X-men series. regardless of the bad reviews, we wanted to see this Marvel movie and see if this would transition to the Disney MCU or will it be a closure of the X-men saga. Again will we be watching a good closing of the series or will this be another throw away movie based on Fox not giving 2 F's now that they won't make any more money from it.
