We sit down and binge watch the new Twilight zone narrated by Peele. His unique view of twisted reality and fantasy on a different level made us want to watch these episodes and see how he painted anew picture of stores originated by the late great Rod Serling
Being a long time fan of Noomi Rapace from the “Girl with the dragon Tattoo” series (Millennial series) This movie about her being a female body guard was pretty interesting to me. How this bodyguard had to take care of an heiress that has just inherited control over her fathers million dollar business. British movie but something on my list
This was an odd movie from Netflix that kept showing up in my feed. Basically a Cam girl (actresses that gets money from porn cam’s) that some how gets her identity stolen. Skip the profession she is in. Check out the interesting risk this women will have to go through to get her identity back. Won awards as well. Based on the life of the writer who was a Cam girl.
We watched Peele on his show a few times and felt he was a funny dude with a creative mind. But after seeing Get out and knowing he was one of the producers of Spike Lee's Black KKKlansman. We couldn't wait to see his next creative project. So with any of us knowing what this was all about. We were looking forward to understanding this new concept of doppelgängers terrorizing a family and why. A complicated plot and right in the middle of the new generation horror films. This was a very good movie to watch. Also an amazing performance by Lupita Nyong'o
My next asian film comes from Hong Kong which centers on a hit man with some unique abilities, This assassin has a crew that creates accidents for their victims so that people would not be able to track any particular person. The catch to this story is what happens when the creator becomes the victim? This is where this story goes. We watch and see if he is right or is this another creation that backfires in his own mind.
This very interesting movie made by the Director: Yorgos Lanthimos with his two odd movies The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer Has created this piece period about a frail Queen who needs assistance from her close friend to help her govern the nation but gets interrupted with a new addition to their relationship. A former aristocrat who is the cousin of the Queens friend, who moves in to become the favorite to the Queen. Then all hell breaks out
In the early 18th century, England is at war with the French. Nevertheless, duck racing and pineapple eating are thriving. A frail Queen Anne occupies the throne, and her close friend, Lady Sarah, governs the country in her stead, while tending to Anne's ill health and mercurial temper. When a new servant, Abigail, arrives, her charm endears her to Sarah. Sarah takes Abigail under her wing, and Abigail sees a chance to return to her aristocratic roots
As a recommendation for Alicia and I to see, we made a decision to check this out over the holidays. Compared to the box office hit “A quiet Place”. This was supposed to give you the same feel and tension of that movie. The difference with this movie is the creatures in Bird Box make you kill yourself if you see them as oppose to creatures hunting you down if you make a sound. The main highlight of this movie is Sandra Bullock performance and John Malkovich which plays his crazy self as usual.
When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain -- if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears.
Bird Box is a 2014 post-apocalyptic novel and the debut work of Josh Malerman, The book follows a woman who must find a way to guide herself and her children to safety despite the potential threat from an unseen adversary. The story is partially told via flashbacks and takes place during three different time periods
Alicia and I go to see one of our favorite actress, two upcoming black males and the amazing director Steve McQueen. This movie Widows was based on an 80’s British TV series that was rewritten by Steve and McQueen and Gillian Flynn (gone girl, sharp objects, Dark places) mixed review of this movie.
A police shootout leaves four thieves dead during an explosive armed robbery attempt in Chicago. Their widows -- Veronica, Linda, Alice and Belle -- have nothing in common except a debt left behind by their spouses' criminal activities. Hoping to forge a future on their own terms, Veronica joins forces with the other three women to pull off a heist that her husband was planning.
Alicia and I take a quick binge trip with this very interesting Amazon series converted from the podcast series of the same name. Beautifully done directed by Sam Ismail better known for his work with the Mr. Robot series. This conspiracy military, rehab center, DOD suspense thriller takes you on a slow burn with corporate corruption, deception and pharmaceutical poisoning to a very real story line for profit
Heidi Bergman is a caseworker at Homecoming, a facility that helps soldiers transition back to civilian life. Years later, the Department of Defense questions why she left, which makes Heidi realize that there's a whole other story behind the one that she's been telling herself. Oscar winner Julia Roberts stars as Heidi in the first regular TV series role of her career. "Homecoming" is based a podcast of the same name.
Alicia and I finally sit down to check out the second season of Ozark. The amazing way the first season was, we looked forward to seeing what the family has in store for the next characters. One hint, The ladies take over.
Created by Bill Dubuque ("The Accountant," "The Judge"), this drama series stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. With wife Wendy and their two kids in tow, Marty is on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe.
