I try to check out a few foreign movies or TV shows a few times a month. This interesting movie comes from Argentina and is all about comics, drama and heroes. A touch of Cosplay and super villain is the premise of this wacky fun movie. Here's my take.
The Plagues of Breslau (Netflix)
Another Netflix foreign film, and this one is from Poland. Not many movies or shows I've seen come out of Poland but this one seemed like something worth while seeing. This is the summary. After a body is found sewn inside of a cow hide. A local detective discovers a killer is recreating an 18th century "plague" of criminal punishments on a bunch of bad people. Now, does this sound like something we have seen before?
The Night Comes For Us (Indonesia)
Now this fast pace action super drama is somethingI didn’t expect even though the reviews said to be prepared. A triad soldier decides to go against the wishes of the clan based on the killing of a little girl. Then he becomes the target. But he is not so easily to kill. Over the top some times and very gory. But Very entertaining.
Ito, a gangland enforcer, is caught amidst a treacherous and violent insurrection within his Triad crime family.
Accident (Hong Kong)
My next asian film comes from Hong Kong which centers on a hit man with some unique abilities, This assassin has a crew that creates accidents for their victims so that people would not be able to track any particular person. The catch to this story is what happens when the creator becomes the victim? This is where this story goes. We watch and see if he is right or is this another creation that backfires in his own mind.
Bluebeard (Netflix) Korean
I started this drama because it seemed as though it would interest me and I would move on to something else a bit more creative. This awkward twisted serial killer saga, tells the story about a doctor that overhears some suspicious and perhaps brutal killing of someone while they are sedated in his clinic. This movie takes you on a plot twisting ride that makes you ask, am I right or am I wrong. Or Is it both. Something to be prepared for.
A doctor finds himself in the middle of an unsolved serial murder case after discovering a secret from a sedated patient. When dismembered bodies show up close to home, he must solve the riddle before the killer realizes what he knows.
Stranger (Forest of Secrets) - Netflix (Korean tv series)
Prosecutor Hwang Si-mok who, as a child, lost the ability to feel empathy joins a police lieutenant to try to uncover the true identity of a serial killer. While looking into the case, he must fight rampant corruption within the police department that continuously undermines the investigation. Si-mok vows to find the perpetrator within two months, but rumors about his violent nature pop up and lead to questions about his ability to lead the case. He eventually sets out to meet the person who he believes is the real murderer.
Elle (foreign film)
Michèle seems indestructible. Head of a leading video game company, she brings the same ruthless attitude to her love life as to business. Being attacked in her home by an unknown assailant changes Michèle's life forever. When she resolutely tracks the man down, they are both drawn into a curious and thrilling game. A game that may, at any moment, spiral out of control.
Today we review the amazing Isabelle Huppert play one of her greatest roles in the movie Elle. The twist and deception in this movie is extraordinary and we go over them with more than just a little enthusiasm. Pretty good podcast to listen to.
