Since we are Spike Lee fans but lately we have been a bit cautious of his recent releases. We didn't run out to see his Netflix release about 5 black men from the Vietnam war going back tot he country to recover a fallen brothers remains. After Black KKKlansman we thought we would give this one a try since that was made a lot better than his other previous releases.
Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings
I sit down and watch number 3 of the continued series about the famed Detective Dee. This one gets right back into the supernatural realm to solve the mystery of being falsely accused of treason.
Accused of wrongdoing by Empress Wu, Detective Dee faces a formidable foe while investigating a crime wave that's marked by strange and seemingly supernatural occurrences
Mad World (Hong Kong)
This emotional drama about an ex stockbroker who is diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder gets released from a mental institution and has to adjust to a society that sees him as a threat while he deals with his own disorder and a father that he has never had a relationship with. A very sad and interesting take on how we treat people with mental disorders.
Accident (Hong Kong)
My next asian film comes from Hong Kong which centers on a hit man with some unique abilities, This assassin has a crew that creates accidents for their victims so that people would not be able to track any particular person. The catch to this story is what happens when the creator becomes the victim? This is where this story goes. We watch and see if he is right or is this another creation that backfires in his own mind.
Crazy Rich Asians
This was the movie Alicia and I were pretty excited about. Since I make her watch all the asian cinema movies and anime with me. We saw this as something amazing to highlight a culture that isn't recognized on that level in the United states. The Asian Black Panther with out the superhero outfit and the Marvel logo. What a very entertaining movie.
