This Netflix movie looked like another version of John Wick but with one of favorite foreign actors Mads Mikkelsen. An assassin that is on the verge of retiring is sent on his last mission only to be set up by his employer so they won't have to pay him his millions in severance. he employer gets into a very bad turn events when they are dealing with one of their best and in the mean time, the assassin has his demons he is dealing with that he will eventually have to confront.
CAM (Netflix)
This was an odd movie from Netflix that kept showing up in my feed. Basically a Cam girl (actresses that gets money from porn cam’s) that some how gets her identity stolen. Skip the profession she is in. Check out the interesting risk this women will have to go through to get her identity back. Won awards as well. Based on the life of the writer who was a Cam girl.
Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings
I sit down and watch number 3 of the continued series about the famed Detective Dee. This one gets right back into the supernatural realm to solve the mystery of being falsely accused of treason.
Accused of wrongdoing by Empress Wu, Detective Dee faces a formidable foe while investigating a crime wave that's marked by strange and seemingly supernatural occurrences
Us - Jordan Peele
We watched Peele on his show a few times and felt he was a funny dude with a creative mind. But after seeing Get out and knowing he was one of the producers of Spike Lee's Black KKKlansman. We couldn't wait to see his next creative project. So with any of us knowing what this was all about. We were looking forward to understanding this new concept of doppelgängers terrorizing a family and why. A complicated plot and right in the middle of the new generation horror films. This was a very good movie to watch. Also an amazing performance by Lupita Nyong'o
Captain Marvel
So the long awaited lead female Marvel movie has arrived. We caught a glimpse at the end of Infinity wars but if you weren’t aware of the history. You had no idea what was coming. So this lead up was extraordinary but more of an origin story than fitting into the current MCU. Here’s our Take.
Revenger (Netflix)
so this Netflix original is all about revenge of course. An ex cop whose family was killed by a gangster that was sent to a criminal prison on an island. Finds his way to the island to exact his revenge. Along the way he encounters other crimminals that are at war with each other while he attempts to find the murderer. Korean action drama.
Alita - Battle Angel
So this late release of the James Cameron/Robert Rodriguez blockbuster was highly anticipated but got lost under the barrage of the DC and Marvel superhero movies. So it was pushed all the way into 2019. his heavily CGI SFX movie based on a Japanese Manga series look like something that needed to be seen but had us skeptical. Here’s our take.
Russian Doll (Netflix)
Amazing short Netflix series about a woman for some reason keeps dying on the day of her birthday. The humorous ways she dies and the way she tries not to die takes you on a crazy trip into this Russian Jewish woman in New York. Very diverse with the characters as well as clever clever dialogue. Absolutely worth seeing. Here's my Review.
Mad World (Hong Kong)
This emotional drama about an ex stockbroker who is diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder gets released from a mental institution and has to adjust to a society that sees him as a threat while he deals with his own disorder and a father that he has never had a relationship with. A very sad and interesting take on how we treat people with mental disorders.
Can you ever forgive me
Alicia and I are big fans of Melissa McCarthy so when she does something that catches our eye or something outrageous. We make an effort to see her. This being her first staring dramatic role, We had to see what she would do. Based on a book written by Lee Isreal a well known writer who falls down on her luck and starts to make money off of deception
