American Gods (Starz) Review

For an out of the ordinary review, We decided on a new TV series on Starz to review.  The critically acclaimed novel "American Gods" created by Neil Gaiman comes to TV.  I mentioned this series to Alicia early last year because we both are big fans of Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies).  And this show has all the creative flair of the two of them in such different ways.  Check it out, it is partially complex but both horror and entertaining at the same time.   Here's the series summary.  Enjoy!!

Ex-convict Shadow Moon roams a world he doesn't understand, left adrift by the recent, tragic death of his wife. Little does he know his life is about to change after he meets a crafty, charismatic con man named Mr. Wednesday, who offers Shadow a job as his bodyguard. As their journey begins, Shadow encounters a hidden America where magic is real and fear grows over the ascending power of New Gods like Technology and Media. In a grand plan to combat the threat, Mr. Wednesday attempts to unite the Old Gods to defend their existence and rebuild the influence that they've lost, leaving Shadow struggling to accept this new world and his place in it

Alien Convenant

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival

Wonder Woman (DC Comics)

Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

This Episode Alicia and I go to a late showing of Wonder Woman because we heard so much about this movie as well as listening to the interviews with the stars and the director.  Since this is a DC movie not a Marvel movie, I was of course cautious of this being any good.  But we got to enjoy this film from different perspectives.

Fate of the Furious (fast and furious 8)

When a mysterious woman seduces Dom into the world of terrorism and a betrayal of those closest to him, the crew face trials that will test them as never before.

Alicia and I have a late night movie watching binge.  Even though I've heard good and bad things about this movie The Fate of the furious.  The all star cast returns and we get to see all the new cast members and sit and watch how this next big blockbuster really turns out.  You might be surprised or not surprised by our review of this movie.  I should have listened to my favorite podcast Cinemile when they did the review of the movie as well.

Manchester By The Sea/La La Land & Lion Review

Lee Chandler is a brooding, irritable loner who works as a handyman for a Boston apartment block. One damp winter day he gets a call summoning him to his hometown, north of the city. His brother's heart has given out suddenly, and he's been named guardian to his 16-year-old nephew. As if losing his only sibling and doubts about raising a teenager weren't enough, his return to the past re-opens an unspeakable tragedy.

The story of Mia, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, a dedicated jazz musician, struggling to make ends meet while pursuing their dreams in a city known for destroying hopes and breaking hearts. With modern day Los Angeles as the backdrop, this musical about everyday life explores what is more important: a once-in-a-lifetime love or the spotlight

A five-year-old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family

John Wick: Chapter 2

Legendary hitman John Wick is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins' guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world's deadliest killers

This session Alicia and I, big fans of the first John Wick movie.  Had to go see this critically admired second chapter of the franchise.  Keanu an enigma of sorts has been a quiet favorite of mine and he has created another character we now enjoy.  even though I don't condone violence.  But in this day an age of the Trump regime.  I totally needed some shoot him in the head action. Here's our take

Get Out

Now that Chris and his girlfriend, Rose, have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined

Oooooo.....K.  This movie has been talked about and admired by almost every critic out there because of its outrageous turn of horror as it pertains to racism.  Jordan Peele turns the blind eye of liberals not address ing their own racist thoughts and desires into a black mans nightmare.  Satirical in many ways but revealing the underlined comments of white liberals that doesn't compare to the old time southern racism we are use to seeing on screen from the lets go back to the good ole days.  Here's our thoughts.
