Parasite (Korean)

This Korean drama was awarded and praised at the Cannes film festival by the great Korean director Bong Joon Ho. This was something I knew I wanted to see but wasn't sure if Alicia would be able to keep up with subtitles. This film turned out to be an amazing lesson in the differences of class, privilege and suspense. This movie was laid out so well that you never knew would would be next. An extraordinary piece of art.

SEARCHING (2018)

Alicia and I sit down to watch this amazing tech driven mystery.  No on our immediate radar but as we watched some short prevews and reviews.  We thought this would be a great movie to jump into for this week. With great twist and turns with a creative way of filming.  This movie was worth watching.

After David Kim (John Cho)'s 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a local investigation is opened and a detective is assigned to the case. But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter's laptop. In a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology devices we use every day to communicate, David must trace his daughter's digital footprints before she disappears forever.

Upgrade 2018

Alicia and I decided on going to the movie and flipped a coin and went with the reviews to choose this independent move from the the "Blumhouse" producer.  This Sci Fi action horror film turned out to be a lot more than we expected.  A good to movie after overdosing on Marvel movies and star wars disappointments

A brutal mugging leaves Grey Trace paralyzed in the hospital and his beloved wife dead. A billionaire inventor soon offers Trace a cure -- an artificial intelligence implant called STEM that will enhance his body. Now able to walk, Grey finds that he also has superhuman strength and agility -- skills he uses to seek revenge against the thugs who destroyed his life

Hereditary (the Movie)

Alicia and I take a late night showing of an independent horror movie by the interesting production studio A24.  The critically acclaimed hit Hereditary.  A suspenseful Rosemary baby type horror drama that makes you keep up with so many details that you might just miss what was coming.  Amazing movie

When Ellen passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited

The Killing of a Sacred Deer

This review I delve into the psychological and abstract movies that takes a little more than watching and knowing what the plot, ending and story is all about.  This one is the killing of a sacred deer. A Yorgos Lanthimos movie that is so interesting the way it speaks to revenge, sacrifice and responsibility.

Dr. Steven Murphy is a renowned cardiovascular surgeon who presides over a spotless household with his wife and two children. Lurking at the margins of his idyllic suburban existence is Martin, a fatherless teen who insinuates himself into the doctor's life in gradually unsettling ways. Soon, the full scope of Martin's intent becomes menacingly clear when he confronts Steven with a long-forgotten transgression that will shatter his domestic bliss forever.

A Ghost Story

In this singular exploration of legacy, love, loss, and the enormity of existence, a recently deceased, white-sheeted ghost returns to his suburban home to try to reconnect with his bereft wife.

That was summary to the movie but anyway, Alicia and I watched this critically acclaimed movie called A ghost Story separately after I was recommended to watch and review this independent film.  This love, spiritual and exploration of time story is an interesting view of what love and time does to a person when you have no control of what can be done.
