Room 237 is a 2012 American documentary film directed by Rodney Ascher about interpretations and perceived meanings of Stanley Kubrick's film The Shining (1980) which was adapted from the 1977 novel of the same name by Stephen King.The film includes footage from The Shining and other Kubrick films, along with discussions by a number of Kubrick enthusiasts. The film has nine segments, each segment focusing on different elements within the film which "may reveal hidden clues and hint at a bigger thematic oeuvre."

Kubrick is an amazing director. He does his movies with such complex and intellectual thinking that people find his movies confusing. I wanted to get more background on others view of what they saw in Kubrick's movies and wonder if I picked up on any of it. Boy was I wrong. The main focus is the shinning but other Kubrick Movies are shown and referenced. The interviewee's come up with so many different observations that made me think of obsessed people as well as people with too much time on their hands. From sexual undertones, Nazi holocaust, Indian genocide and more.

What I see in this documentary is the strangeness of Kubrick vision that transitions to his audience watching his movies. If you are a Kubrick fan, you will see some great interpretations of how he wants his movies to tell a story on top of visual he wants you to always pay attention to. Good story telling if you are a Kubrick fan.
