Montresor Castrum Suavense Soave 2013

Garganega is a variety of white Italian wine grape widely grown in the Veneto region of North East Italy, particularly in the provinces of Verona and Vicenza. It is Italy's 6th most widely planted white grape

Throughout the Soave production zone Garganega is the principal grape variety though Trebbiano di Soave and Chardonnay are permitted in varying percentages. While most Soave is dry, still wine within the DOC zone a sparkling spumante style is permitted as is the passito Recioto style, that in 1998 was granted its own Recioto di Soave DOCG designation for grapes grown in the hilly region

Marsanne is the most popular white wine grape planted in the Northern Rhone wine region. In Hermitage , where the fruit reaches its best expression, it is usually blended with Roussanne and Clairette . Marsanne adds depth and rich textures to the wine. Through blending, the grape helps produce rich, deeply colored wines with flavors and scents of roasted nuts, pears, white peaches, honeydew melon, spice and flowers. With age, Marsanne based wines deepen in color and complexity. Wines produced from Marsanne are quite rich and can even develop a silky, exotic, oily texture.

Gruber Roschitz Gruner Veltliner 2015

Tart apples and green pears create a refreshing opening. The palate fizzes with uncannily truthful yellow grapefruit peel and white pepper. This is fresh but also holds generous, delicious fruit flavours at its concentrated core. An ultraclean finish makes you crave more

Chateau Cote Montpezat Bordeaux

Indicative Blend:
40% Sauvignon blanc
30% Sauvignon gris
30% Semillon

  •  This is less well known among this region's wines. This wine has been climbing in popularity during the year

  • Most White Bordeaux has a 3% mix of Muscadelle.  This grape is normally used to contribute a bit of sweetness to a blend, but shows up on the palate with a dried fruit raisin taste.

  • Sauvignon Gris on the other hand is a mutation of Sauvignon    Blanc is found primarily in Chile and Bordeaux.  Since it is not that  aromatic.  Sauvignon Gris is normally used for blending

This Beautiful Bordeaux Blanc has a Lovely lemony/lime nose with hints of apricots with green leafy vegetable tones. The Sauvignon Gris reduced some of the acidity and made it a great sitting wine. Not just a complimentary wine with a meal.
Very good French White.

Fess Parker Riesling

Light straw yellow in color. On the nose there are fresh citrus and floral aromas including lemon, lime, ginger, white flowers and fresh cut grass. On the palate there are flavors of stone fruit, white peach and nectarine, and citrus. There is good acidity and minerality that is followed by a hint of sweetness.

That was their take on this wine. This is mine. This California Riesling reminded me of an Alsace/Germany Riesling with the strong hints of honey as well as a delicious nectarine taste. Slight lemony taste but with sweetness that says, European Riesling. Nice minerality to the taste but no offensive acidity to complain about. Most west coast Rieslings tend to back away from the sweetness, but doesn't show the floral and fruity complexities like France and Germany. With weather in the 90's, this is always a good chilled choice for the backyard.

My First Grenache Blanc

Fresh cut blossoms greet the nose - soft, clean and inviting. On the palate, crisp green apple is complemented by tropical notes of melon with a slightly buttery and creamy finish.

Grenache blanc is a variety of white wine grape that is related to the red grape Grenache. It is mostly found in Rhône wine blends and in northeast Spain as well.  I wanted to try this white wine grape because I've tried most of my Grenache wines from the Rhone region and Australia.

Grenache or Garnacha is one of the most widely planted red wine grape varieties in the world. It ripens late, so it needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in Spain
